Bank held its 41st annual Business Forecast Luncheon on March 15 at the
Chicago Hilton and Towers. The bank welcomed 420 friends and customers to
celebrate its four decades of operation. The event’s theme was Marking 40
Years, Envisioning the Future.
Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist at LaSalle Bank, was the keynote speaker.
Lakeside Bank President Raymond J. Spaeth honored
longtime bank officers. Of the company’s 41 officers, 31 have been with
Lakeside for ten or more years,
while 17 have 20 or more years of service. Spaeth has worked at Lakeside for
40 years.
The bank released its 2006 annual report, which showed Lakeside’s net income increasing to $21.5 million, up from 2005 earnings of $19.3 million and setting a new record for the tenth consecutive year. Lakeside’s total assets number $846.8 million, a 20% increase from 2005.

I-Go comes To Chinatown
I-Go Car
Sharing recently celebrated the opening of its latest location in Chinatown
at 2174 S. Princeton Ave.
The Chinatown site is one of three I-Go locations in the 25th Ward provided by Alderman Danny Solis through his sponsorship of a Chicago City Council ordinance. Congressman Danny Davis and Bernice Wong, president of the Chinese American Service League, also provided support.
I-Go is a non-profit corporation providing car-sharing services in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. It was launched in 2002 as a pilot project supported by the City of Chicago and federal government. I-Go is a membership organization and maintains a fleet of low emission, fuel efficient Toyota Prius Hybrids, Honda Civic Hybrids, and Honda Elements.

DPAC looks at summer events
The Dearborn Park Advisory Council met March 21 about several South Loop issues.
Registration is underway for the Roosevelt Park Summer Tennis Camp. The park is located at 62 W. Roosevelt Rd.; those interested also can register at Daley Bicentennial Plaza. The camp runs Monday, June 25, through Friday, Aug. 3. The fee is $85. For information, call (312) 742-7648.
Two summer camps will be held. The Daley Bicentennial Camp hosts youngsters six to 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Northerly Island Camp is for children three through five. The two schedule options are Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday.
This year's Movie in the Park, sponsored once again by Allstate, will be held Saturday, June 16. Entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at dusk. Vendors will be on hand, and volunteers are requested.
The annual block party is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8. Volunteers are needed. Grills and entertainment will be provided.

Lake Shore Drive crossing considered
A consultant has been hired, announced Bob O'Neill, president of the Grant Park Advisory Council and Grant Park Conservancy, to recommend a plan for connecting the Queens Landing and Buckingham Fountain area at Columbus Drive between Monroe Street and Jackson Boulevard with the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The project has been planned for quite some time, with various designs and options such as an overpass, underpass, or ground level passage already discussed and presented. Currently, crossing Lake Shore Drive between Buckingham Fountain and the lake is prohibited.

Mercy
Hospital & Medical Center has added Severyn Yaroshevsky, MD, to its medical
staff and faculty.
Yaroshevsky received his medical degree from Lviv State Medical University,
Lviv, Ukraine, and completed his residency at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital.
Dr. Yaroshevsky’s clinical interests and expertise include children’s
health, women’s health, dermatology, and minor surgery. He is fluent in
Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian.

Environmental leadership training available from City
The Chicago Department of Environment’s Chicago Conservation Corps program is looking for Chicagoans to participate in an environmental leadership training course in April.
The five-session program reviews urban environmental challenges and opportunities and covers water, air, energy, land, and community organizing. On completion of the course, trainees design and lead an environmental service project in their communities with corps support and a $400 budget.
Training will be held Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 7 through May 5.
