Before the Crossfit Games, WELLS trains for eight hours each day. For the most of the year, Wells trains for six hours a day, increasing to eight hours before the Games, according to her. She works on strength, skills, and metcons in the afternoon after doing cardio in the morning. Metcon, which stands for “metabolic conditioning,” involves circuits of high intensity.

Wells said she takes a full day off every week and another day she just swims or cycles.

All activities require a stable core, and Wells told Insider that her favorite exercises are toes-to-bar and sit-ups. To do this, hang from a bar over your head, swing your legs up until your toes contact the bar, contract your abs, swing them back down to an extended position, and repeat.
