Glossy design magazine images of tastefully furnished homes and flats can convey an instantaneous finality. When you look at the “Before” picture, the “After” picture appears perfectly and admirably.
Everyone is aware that reality is much more complex. It can take months or even years to decorate your home and get it to the point where you’re happy with it.
When it comes to art, the online gallery Minted has come up with a brilliant idea to save the time and effort you spend looking for the ideal decor item. Customizable Fine Art is a more recent product from Minted that enables you to alter authentic works of fine art to your precise requirements.
I was thrilled to accept Minted’s invitation to trial the service free of charge. Here is how it unfolded.
You can crop, rotate, flip, and recolor art from MINTED’S selection of more than 900 pieces using their customizable fine art service. OVER AND BEYOND THE COST OF THE ARTWORK, IT COSTS $75.
For any type of aesthetic, there are various styles, media, and subjects. You have more than 900 alternatives to pick from as of the time of this writing, and Minted is constantly adding more. Before customizing, a piece’s base pricing ranges from $24 for a 7’x5′ print to $298 for a 79’x48′ print.
You can look through every option or narrow your search by type (painting, photography, mixed-media), theme (botany, wildlife, landscape, typography), and style (vintage, minimal, modern).
Keep in mind that the piece doesn’t have to be your favorite. You merely need to be aware of the possibility for customization.
YOU’LL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE INTUITIVE CUSTOMIZATION TOOL WHERE YOU CAN PLAY AROUND WITH THE DIFFERENT FEATURES ONCE YOU’VE CHOSEN A PIECE.
The artwork can be rotated, zoomed, or flipped. Any component of the artwork’s color can also be changed. If you want to change the color in any way, I advise being as detailed as you can by including the hex code.
Additionally, there is a space where you may add more information, solicit assistance from your designated Minted Art Specialist, or notify them that you’ll be sending a photo reference (if you want the art to match a specific part of your room, for example).
MY INTENT WAS TO DRAW SOMETHING TO GO WITH MY MULTICOLOR MOROCCAN RUG. EVEN THOUGH I’VE HAD THE RUGS FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS, I CANNOT FIND ANY LARGE-FORMAT ARTWORK THAT PLAYED WELL WITH THE COLORS OF THE RUGS.
I was well aware of my preference for abstract and floral art going into the process. When I first saw this print by artist Caryn Owen, I immediately thought of how beautifully it would go with my rug. It only required a few adjustments.
Since my rug has a lot of light and dark purple hues, I decided to zoom in so the flowers would fill up more of the canvas and alter the blue tones to purple. In addition, I adore purple in general.
There are still more choices to choose after you’ve finished personalizing the artwork. The size, finish (canvas or an art print), addition of a frame, and addition of borders or matting are all options. I chose a 30″ x 40″ framed canvas of my own artwork.
I APPRECIATED THE HUMAN ELEMENT AND TRANSPARENT REVIEW AND DELIVERY PROCESS INVOLVED.
I was informed after placing my order that I would have a proof via email within a few days. The proof was then provided to me by my Minted Art Specialist, and I had until the end of the night to give my approval. Requesting more adjustments is perfectly OK; just be aware that it will probably cause your delivery estimate to change.
My proof was perfect as it was, and I had no revisions to make. I then received regular updates on the status of my order’s production and shipping.
13 days after final art approval, my finished piece was carefully packed in a strong cardboard box with lots of padding and packing.
It’s not for everyone because MINTED’S CUSTOMIZABLE FINE ART REQUIRES A SLIGHTLY INVOLVED PROCESS AND THE COSTS CAN ADD UP. However, if you’re tearing your hair out in search of the ideal artwork, this custom option is worthwhile.
There are many decisions to be made along the process, which might be stressful if you’re a person who struggles with making decisions. Having a few primary goals in mind, such as color, style, or size, is beneficial. However, you always have the choice to ask your art specialist for assistance if you do become overwhelmed.
Depending on the modifications you select, the cost of the finished product is another element to take into account. The custom feature has a $75 usage fee as well. Overall though, Minted has always been about making high-quality prints affordable to the masses, thus their art is still far less expensive than that of other fine art suppliers.
I believe the price is really reasonable given the time and stress spared searching for the art, and I wouldn’t think twice about using the service again.
